Marriage |
3 May 1943 |
Camp Gruber, Muskogee, OK |
- Bernard was in the US Army when they married; they honeymooned in Texas per Rita.
Found a wedding announcement in an old picture album that says "Miss Rita Pelletier, RN, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Willie D. Pelletier of upper Main street, Fort Kent, became the bride of S-Sgt. Bernard Lozier, son of Victor Lozier, Alfred street, May 3 at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, where S-Sgt. Lozier is stationed. The bride was graduated from the Fort Kent schools, and from Georgetown University in Washington, DC in May 1942. S-Sgt. Lozier was graduated from the Fort Kent schools, Calakoon High School, New York and the University of Ottawa. He was inducted into the army July 25, 1942 and was sent to Camp Gruber, where he has been stationed since then. S-Sgt. and Mrs. Pelletier (obviously this was a mistake by the writer, should have been and Mrs. Lozier) are living at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma." I think this was published in the Bangor News in Bangor, ME.
Got a copy of the military Marriage Record for Bernard Anthony M. Lozier & Marie Elise Rita Pelletier for May 3,1943 in Chapel 3 at Camp Gruber, OK; witnesses were Joseph Bouchard & Catherine Bouchard; also got a copy of the Certificate of Matrimony from the Archdiocese for the Military Services for this same wedding.
