    Notes
    • Guillaume Pelletier was born in a tiny hamlet, Bresolettes, in the Avre Valley of Percheron district of Northern France in department of Orne. He married Michelle Mabille in 1619 & they settled in La Gazerie with her family for 20 yrs. He was associated with the Giffard & Juchereau merchant families & worked as a merchant of charcoal for 20 yrs. before he immigrated to the New World in 1641 with his family & brother Antoine, probably under contract with the Juchereau brothers.
He had given himself, or been given, the surname of 'Le Gobloteur' meaning a jolly person who liked to drink, sing & laugh. His son Jean (the only child of 3 that survived to adulthood) used this surname & so did his son, Rene Gobleau but it fell out of use.
Guillaume and his family settled in Beauport, & he became a chief official there; in 1655 he sold part of his lands to former Percheron neighbor, Jean Mignot, who became his grandson, Noel's, father-in-law in 1674.
Guillaume died on Nov. 28, 1657 at 59 yrs. old; there are no records available online for Beauport for 1657.
