    • Received a packet of copies from the U.S. Department of Homeland Secuirty U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on 7/25/08 (requested this info. in Oct. 2007) for Victor Lauzier's application for alien registration stamped in Fort Kent, ME on Oct. 29, 1940; states that he came to this country via Van Buren, ME via ferryboat on Sept. 14, 1874 (he was 3 weeks old then), also states that he applied for his 1st papers about 1914 & had never received his 1st papers from Houlton, ME; had not filed petition for naturalization.
Victor Lauzier was assigned #3620402 alien registration.
On Mar 19, 1956, Victor Lozier re-applied for alien registration (lost his card?) saying he entered US by auto over the International Bridge in Fort Kent, ME on Sept. 1, 1947 (?); the investigating officer at Madawaska supplied a border crossing card; the Portland Office sent to St. Albans, VT to verify this information but the St. Albans office couldn't verify info. based on data given.
Don't know what happened to this re-application request.
Victor never did get his naturalization papers, son-in-law Walter Aunchman said that when he died in Canada, they had a hard time getting his body back into the US to be buried in Fort Kent; his son, Patrick had to intercede.

    • Received a copy of Victor's Death Certificate from New Brunswick on 9/17/07; doesn't state cause of death or exact location/place of death; just that he died on Mar. 31, 1958 in Saint-Basile, county of Madawaska; states that his birth date was Aug. 21, 1874 not Aug. 22nd like all other documents did.
His twin Joseph had issues with his birthdate also, they seemed to use Aug. 22, 1874 until their later years & then starting using Aug. 21, 1874. Their birth record shows that they were baptized on Aug. 22nd & born 'last night' which could be interpreted as either Aug. 22nd or Aug. 21st. depending on what time of night they were born. I will leave the date as Aug. 22nd for my records.
