Can't find any WWI Draft Registration form for Pasquale Parente/i.
Scanned copies of 2 bank drafts that Pasquale Parente had made out, one on 12/2/1917 & the other on 2/24/1919; they were being sent to San Lorenzello, Benevento, Italy, where he came from.

Couldn't find any 1910 Census record in New Britain for Pasquale Parente; went on Ancestry.com, 1910 Census, CT, Hartford County, New Britain Ward 5, District 230, found 109 Orange St. on image 48 of 92 with Warenti Poskano, Rosie & 6 daughters; it is them!!! Census:
Can't find any 1920 Census record in Bristol for Pasquale Parente.
Found the Census sheet #19B for Bristol District 15 for Henry St., but only #20, 18, 14, 17, 19, & 15 were listed; no #10. Don't know if it was 'skipped' or whether it appears on another sheet by itself; I've searched the records for the name, the first name only, combination of birthdate & immigration dates only, to know avail. I believe that Pasquale & Rose Parente were somehow skipped during the 1920 Census to my sorrow.

    Census:
On the 1930 Census Pasquale Parente is listed on 10 Henry St. Bristol, CT (enum. 102, sheet #8A, lines 1-10) with his wife, Rose & 8 of their children (Antonio had died very young, Sister Rose Angeline had joined the convent, Mary had married a Penda in 1920 & Anna had married a Goselin in 1924); he was 55 yrs. old, married at 22, a Janitor at Ball Bearing plant, actually at work was marked 'no'; immigrated 1891, still at 'AL' immigrant status, could read/write/speak English.

    Naturalization:
Received a copy from NARA of Pasquale's Declaration of Intent to become a citizen on Apr 17, 1930 but he died before he completed the process; shows that Pasquale Parente of 10 Henry St., Bristol, CT was born June 12th 1875 in St. Lorenzello Italy, Italian, North, he was 5'10" tall, weighed 150 lbs., that he was married to Rose on Feb 20th 1898 in New Haven, CT, she was born in Agerola, Italy on Dec 5th 1874; has 11 children with their birth dates listed; arrived on Apr 2nd 1891 on the SS 'Burgundia'; signed the 17th of April 1930 in Hartford, CT

    Notes:

Angela Rose lived in the same house on 10 Henry St., Bristol, CT from 1915 when her & Pasquale bought the house, then with 2 of her sons at different times during the 1940-1950's until she died in 1959; the house is still in the family & that is where I got some of the best photographs, documents, etc. from her granddaughter, Gerri Goodwin.

    Birth:
Received Angela Rosa's birth record from Agerola via a visit to the town hall by Susan Tedders (a cousin from the AngelaRosa branch of the family); translated by an Italian teacher at Aux3Pommes in New Haven, Evelina; the mayor was Guiseppe Avitabile & witnesses were Michele Acampora & Giovanni Florio. The father, Giovanni, age 27, son of fu Salvatore, brought the child to the town hall for registry the day after her birth, Dec. 5th 1874; she was born on Dec. 4th, 1874 to Camilla Florio, 26, daughter of fu Gennaro; shows that Giovanni signed the birth record.

    Immigration:
AngelaRosa came over with her mother on the SS'Indipendente' arriving in New York on 6/11/1886; she was listed as AngelaRosa Florio, 11 yrs. old, under her mother's name; I've sent a correction to Ancestry.com to list her as AngelaRosa Mascola.

    Immigration:
On the SS 'Werra' arrived in New York on Dec. 6 1892 Camille Florio was 46 yrs. old with her child, Rosa, 10 mos. old; they had been visiting relatives in Italy.
Note: Rosa would have been 18 yrs. old???

    Census:
On the 1900 census, Angela Rosa is listed as a 'daughter' living with her father & mother Giovanni & Camille Mascola at 25 yrs. old, married 3 yrs. had 2 children, 2 living, with her husband Pasquale Parente & their 2 daughters Maria & Maria Antonia, immigrated in 1886, here for 14 yrs.

On the 1910 census, Rosie is listed as the wife of Pasquale Parente at 36 yrs. old, married 13 yrs., had 8 children, 6 living, born in Italy immigrated in 1882

    Census:
There was no 1920 census taken for the Parente family on 10 Henry St., Bristol, CT, I believe they were somehow skipped since the street was done but not them.

    Census:
On the 1930 census, Rose is listed as the wife of Pasquale Parente at 56 yrs. old, married at 23 yrs. old, born in Italy, immigrated 1882, AL status; living with her husband Pasquale & 8 of their children.

    Census:
On the 1940 census, Angelarosa Parente is listed as 'Head' at 65 yrs. old, widowed, born in Italy, NA status, living with her sons Anthony, James & John.

    Naturalization:
Pasquale was still an 'Alien' on the 1930 census; he had filed his Declaration of Intention in 1930 but he died the following year. NARA looked into whether he ever got his Naturalization Papers & said he died before he could be naturalized.

In the old records at 10 Henry St., Bristol, we found an 'Alien Registration' card with Angela Rose's picture on it dated Feb. 19, 1942; says she was 5' tall, 125#, with a scar across bridge of nose. This had to be the government's program to document all aliens during WWII. Angela Rose never became a US Citizen; she was already married on Dec. 30th 1898 when her father received his naturalization papers (plus she was 23-24 yrs. old & wouldn't have gotten it from her father anyhow).

    Census:

    Notes:

    Married:
Marriage license from New Haven, CT show that Pasquale Parenti & Rosa Mosco were married on Feb. 27th, 1898; he was 22 yrs. old, living at 271 Hamilton St., New Haven & was a buffer, born in Italy, his parents were Antonio Parenti & Benedetto Robano, both born in Italy; she was living at 385 East St., New Haven, 23 yrs. old, born in Italy, her parents were John Mosco & Carmele Flioreo, both born in Italy. It also shows that they were married in 'the Italian Cc Church' by Rev. Peter Lotti; Pasquale Parenti signed the marriage license.
The marriage certificate from St. Michael's Church is in latin: Pasquale Parenti of S. Lorenzelle, minore Benevento, parents Antonio & Maria Robano & Rosa Angiola Mascolo of Agerola, prov. Napoli, parents were Giovanni & Camilla Florio were married on Feb. 20th, 1898; their witnesses were Salvatore Mascolo (Rosa Angiola's brother) & Adelaide Avitabile (Salvatore Mascolo's wife)
Note: don't know why the discepancy in the dates from the civil marriage record to the church marriage record; I'm using the church marriage record since they are the ones that performed the ceremony.
Note: I got a copy of a picture of Salvatore Mascola & Pasquale Parente in 'wedding' attire,Salvatore was sitting, no wedding band on finger & Pasquale was standing, holding a hat with his left hand, looks like a ring on his left hand, has a boutonnaire in his left lapel; I am assuming this was from the wedding of Pasquale Parente & Angela Rose Mascola. Also have another picture of Pasquale Parente in what looks like wedding attire but no boutonnaire, different photography studio, can't see if he's wearing a wedding band or not, his hat is on the chair this time. Have a wonderful picture of what we believe is AngelaRose on her wedding day.

Montesanto'; appeal from city court of New Haven; Achillo Montesanto, minor son of Giuseppe Montesanto, assaulted & committed buggery on Angelo Mascolo (causing great injury, communicating a loathsome disease to him, became sick & disabled), minor son of John Mascolo; Montesanto paid $100. on Apr 5, 1890 to Mascolo for the withdrawal of the suit against his son (the son took an early departure from the jurisdiction); then changed his mind & tried to get the suit reversed on Jun 19,1891; the court overruled each claim submitted by Montesanto & rendered judgement against defendant for the amount of the money with interest & costs.

    Birth:
Got copies of Giovanni Mascolo's civil record of Birth from Agerola, Italy for 21 Nov 1847 born to Salvadore & Angela Rosa Naclerio; Riccardo Rosa translated them for me:
1847 21st Nov. Salvatore Mascolo, 30, muleteer, of Agerola, presented a child born to Angela Rosa Naclerio, his wife, 36, born on the 21st named Giovanni; he was baptized on the 22nd of Nov. 1847 at the church of San Pietro Apostolo.
(from the Archives di Napoli,Agerola civil births Volume #514 1847 record #119)

    Immigration:
Found immigration records for a 'Giovanni Meglio' arrived in New York on Oct. 8, 1881 on the SS'Vincenzo Florio' from Palermo; 32 yrs. old, born about 1849; place of origin S. Lorenzello, Wales. These records are from Castle Gardens since Ellis Island wasn't operating as yet; they do not have much information about the person listed on the manifest. I have searched for all Giovanni's that arrived in 1881-1882 & find nothing even close to Mascolo; since the combination of date of arrival & age are the closest to Giovanni, I am going to go with these documents as being his. (The only issue with the date of arrival is that he had a daughter, Filomena, in Agerola Italy on Nov. 11, 1881 & the birth record shows that her father, Giovanni, brought her to the town hall to register the birth - he couldn't be in two places at once)

    Naturalization:
Received naturalization papers from NARA 10/26/2006; copy of the papers filed at the 'United States of America, State of Connecticut, ss. at the Court of Common Pleas, held at New Haven', etc. pg 204; on Dec 30, 1898 Giovanni Mascolo, 52 yrs. old (b.1846), received his citizenship, he had filed an Intent to become a citizen on Oct. 20, 1894 per this document (NARA has no Declarations of Intent from the New Haven courts for that date).

    Emigration:
Got a copy of an Emergency Passport Application that Giovanni Mascola applied for on Mar 9, 1899 in Rome, Italy; seems that he went back to his home town of Agerola & Italy wouldn't let him leave the country without getting this passport. I don't believe the U.S. required passports at that time. I'm investigating this further. Says he was born in Agerola on Dec. 1847, originally came to the U.S. on 19 Nov 1882 from Naples on an English Ship?; says he was naturalized in New Haven, CT 1st Nov 1898, says he left the U.S. on 4th Jan 1899 on the SS 'Patria' arriving in Naples 22 Jan 1899; says he's 52 yrs. old, 5'4-1/2" tall. The Passport was issued on Mar 15, 1899.

    Died:
Death Certificate shows that Giovanni Mascolo died of injuries from being caught in machinery; died within 30-45 min. signed by medical examiner, on May 5, 1903, he was living at 13 St. John St. , C Ward, 6 families at same address, New Haven at the time, shows he was married (doesn't list wife's name), occupation was at wood yard, born Dec. 1850 in Agerola, Italy, 53 yrs. old; father was Salvatore Mascolo from Agerola, mother was Angele N. from Agerola; information given by son. .
Got copies of the medical examiner's report from the Ct. State Library archives; said he was working in his own wood shop & the belt broke & he climbed up a ladder to fix it but didn't shut off the equipment. Said his daughter-in-law was the only one nearby when it happened (must have been Sal's wife Adelaide since this was the only daughter-in-law he had at that time).
    Found an article in 'Il Corriere del Connecticut' for 5/9/1903, which was an Italian newspaper covering the New Haven area when Giovanni died;
    'UNFORTUNATE DEATH OF A WORKER'
"Last Tuesday the worker, Giovanni Mascolo, while in the afternoon hours worked in the sawmill at no. 13 St. John St.
wanted to replace a transmission belt without stopping the engine, but the worst happened, as having climbed a ladder, he was seized by the rotating axis by his clothes & was vehemently transported. One of his sons, present at the terrifying scene, immediately stopped the machine but too late! The unfortunate worker was crushed and exhaled his last breaths into the arms of his son. Poor man!"
Note: his autopsy said that his daughter-in-law found him with no mention of his son being there.
Translation done by Maria Messina from Acerra, Italy
Found an article in the New Haven Evening Register on May 6, 1903, Wed., headline saying 'Killed in Machinery', 'John Mascolo of St. John Street Whirled to His Death', the article describes how his clothes caught in the machinery & he was whirled round & round. Also said he was 70 yrs. old, he was only 53; said he leaves a wife & two sons who are employed in the wood yard; he left 3 sons & 5 daughters; all 3 sons were barbers.
Also got copies of the probate records for 'John' Mascolo, from May 18, 1903, shows a $320. John Hancock insurance policy, names all his children except Angelo. Signed by Salvatore, Pasquale & Angela Mascolo, Carmilia made a mark 'X' for her signature (not signed by Christine who was 16 at the time).
