Notes |
- On www.magoo.com I found a reference to a "Capt. Henry J. McGough 1907 appointed Sailing Master of La Canadienne at end of field season; 1908 Sailing Master La Canadienne, Lower St. Lawrence survey; 1910-15 first Sailing Master of Cartier; 1919-20 Sailing Master of Cartier" from Ship's Personnel published under People by Friends of Hydrography.
On the Canadian Nautical Research Society's website I found a pdf file for The Hydrographic Survey of Canada 1915-1927 with 3 references to Sailing Master Capt. H.J. McGough: once in 1915 for the 'Carder', once in 1919 for the 'Carder' and once in 1921-22 for the 'Cartier'.
I have found references of the Cartier being in the Halifax Explosion of Dec. 6, 1917 & have been told that Henry John McGough was present there & injured & never quite recovered from these injuries, dying in 1922.
