Buried |
29 May 1929 |
St. Louis Cemetery, Fort Kent, ME |
- St. Louis' Parish in Ft. Kent, ME can't find any burial record for Joseph Levesque, they have a record for Eleonore Pelletier Levesque but don't know where she is buried. We searched for their gravesites at St. Louis' Cemetery this summer (2007) when I visited there but didn't find anything. I studied the pictures of the charts that I took from the office at St. Louis' Church to try to find them but again, no luck. Looked again summer 2008, cannot find them, I walked the entire cemetery! The parish office & I think that they didn't have any grave markers, I'm told by distant cousins that they were both in the poor house when they died.

1875 Sept 21 church marriage record for Joseph Levesque & Leonore Pelletier from Ste. Luce Church, Frenchville, ME this is a marriage certificate from the priest stating that he performed the ceremony of marriage between the above on stated date (date looks like 1873 but the actual church marriage record is definitely 1875) |
Notes |
- In the book 'Dictionnaire Genealogique de Madawaska' at the French-Canadian Genealogy Society in Tolland, CT on pg. 212 it shows Levesque Jos fils de Louis & Ozithee Olive Fournier marrying Pelletier, Eleonore in Frenchville on 21-09- 1875 (his parents are hand-written in as Louis & Ozithee Olive Fournier).
In the book 'Mariages de Frenchville, Maine (Sainte-Luce) 1843-1970' by Leon Guimond on pg. 52 shows the same entry as that in the DGM above. I met Leon Guimond this summer in his home in Frenchville & asked him were he got that piece of information & he said he got it from the church records in New Brunswick. He had a card file on Joseph which showed his parents as Louis & Ozithee Olive Fournier married on Jul 31, 1849 in St. Basile, NB. (no birth date for Joseph was on the card).
On the Voskuhl CD , pg. 1258 is Levesque, Joseph fils de Louis et Ozithee Olive Fourneir & Pelletier, Eleonore.. maries a Ste Luce Frenchville, ME 1875-09-21.
(per Ken Roy of royandboucher.com)
Got a copy of Joseph Levesque's & Eleonore Pelletier's marriage record from Chip Gagnon who has the Frenchville Ste. Luce Church records on microfiche; it shows they got married on Sept. 21, 1875 & Anselme Levesque & Sepherin Pelletier were the witnesses (fathers of bride & groom).
Note: no parents are specifically listed as such.
