  • Name Salvatore Mascolo
Born Jan 1873  Agerola, Campania, Naples, Italy Find all individuals with events at this location
    • Received a copy of an index register from the town of Agerola, Italy from a visit there by a distant cousin, Susan Tedders, from Florida who got these documents from the town hall, Mayor & Town Clerk (who was the Mayor's daughter) were named Mascolo; she also received copies of the actual birth records of Sal's sister AngelaRosa, his brother Pasquale & his sister Filomena who died in Italy at a young age. It shows Salvatore being born to Giovanni Mascolo & Camilla Florio in 1873, he was #2 on the register for the year.

    • Found Salvatore's gravesite while looking for his mother Camille's gravesite; according to location given by office at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Couldn't find Camille's gravesite even with help from the maintenance supervisor but he found Salvatore's where Camille's was supposed to be; sect.C Ave.6 Lot 83; headstone says 'Salvatore Mascola 1872-1912'
Note: directly in front of Sal's gravesite was a square stone with '1906' on it, he had lost 2 sisters, Rosina & Filomena, within 6 weeks of one another in 1906, they were 12 & 15 yrs. old, I believe this stone to be their burial spot.

    • Using the New Haven Directories, I found that Sal lived with his parents on 385 East St. from 1891-1897 where he also ran a barber shop I believe with his two brothers, Pasquale & Angelo; they lived at 13 St. John St. in 1898-1908 but he continued to run the barber shop out of 385 East St. until 1905 when he moved the barber shop to 106 Hamilton St.; he remained there until his death in 1912.

Married Between May 1896 and Jun 1897
    Notes
    • Adelaide arrived in the US in May 1896, had her first child in Apr. 1898. Sal & Adelaide stated that they were married 3 yrs. on the 1900 Census on Jun. 6, 1900. That should have put their marriage between May 1896 and June 1897. Searched through ALL marriage licenses issued in New Haven during May 1896 - Dec. 1897 and could not find one for Salvatore & Adelaide.
I was allowed to search the old church documents for St. Michael's and St. Patricks but found no marriage certificate for Sal & Adelaide. Sent letters to Sacred Heart Church & St. Mary's Church in New Haven 1/3/07. Both churches told me over the phone in Dec. 2007 that they had no record of this marriage. The Archdiocese of Hartford has all the church records from the New Haven County on microfilm; I will spend time there trying to find their marriage record.
Note: Pasquale Parente & AngelaRose Mascola were married on Feb. 20, 1898 & I got a copy of a picture of Salvatore Mascola & Pasquale Parente in 'wedding' attire,Salvatore was sitting, no wedding band on finger & Pasquale was standing, holding a hat with his left hand, looks like a ring on his left hand, has a boutonnaire in his left lapel; I am assuming this was the wedding of Pasquale Parente & Angela Rose Mascola; church records show that Salvatore Mascola was the best man.
